The Salzburg Glockenspiel
The palace erected under Wolf Dietrich already had a tower on the west side protruding from the facade, which was raised in 1701/1702 and given a Glockenspiel, a carillon. Its gamut ranges over three octaves with all semitones.

Whereas thousands of tourists relive the story of Maria von Trapp each year, visiting the film locations where Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer sang, danced and played, the movie and its cult status were largely unknown to the population in Austria and Salzburg for many years.
